Successful Trade Shows

No matter how many trade shows you go to, they are still a source of stress and problems for most exhibitors. Even though the main goal is to generate business, you can also make important professional networks at these shows. In order to have the most successful exhibits there are three mistakes that many exhibitors make that can be easily solved. If these are solved and stopped then there are chances that the trade show will be highly productive.

In order to make sure that you are getting the most benefit from the trade show it is important to encourage employees to visit other company’s booths and to discourage them from only staying at their own company’s booth or exhibit. By understanding how to draw the bigger crowds to the booth you will be able to get a number of new clients and be able to attract more potential clients to your booth. The things that you will want to understand are what new ideas could offer the most benefits to your clients and again, how these ideas are advertised or marketed towards the population that is attending the trade show. Also make sure to check out the booths that are drawing the bigger crowds, whether they are part of your specific industry or not. If you see that they have a great way to promote their business or draw in a crowd then you will be able to consider these things and incorporate them into future displays. You can actually use some of their ideas in order to help yourself attract more attention.

Another really important thing to consider is to make sure that you slow down and are not rushing people through the process. You want to give each new or perspective client special and individualized attention. By doing this you will encourage them to have a connection to you personally and to be able to understand how your business can benefit them. You will still want to be timely and not take up too much of a patron’s time, but you should invest enough time to make them feel appreciated and noticed. Make sure to listen to the people that you are talking to and to relate what they are saying to the product or service that you are trying to promote.

There are some other things that you need to consider. You will want to know the top two things that make attendees unhappy with a specific exhibit or booth at a trade show. These two things could include that the individual is either overwhelmed by a staff member that is too eager or that you ignore them or do not give them an appropriate amount of attention. Either action is equally as bad. In one they feel that you do not have a successful product or service as you are too willing to meet their needs, and with the other they feel offended and as though they are not important enough for you to talk with. Finding the balance between these two concepts is the key to successful trade show public relations.
